Information related to compound identity, quantity and the location of each container is precisely referenced in our Mosaic database. Mosaic can automatically send instructions for robots to retrieve these (in the case of our automated store), or provide our operators with retrieval locations.
At the core of our storage capabilities is the fully automated Azenta LSS (Large Sized Store) (see LSS Store Video), which offers -20°C storage, automated cherry-picking and retrieval functionalities for various types of labware. This includes plates, Matrix 2D-barcoded tubes (96-well), and Azenta (REMP) Tube Technology™ microtubes (384-well). These versatile storage and cherry-picking options enable advanced plating paradigms tailored to specific dispensing requirements. The system provides the flexibility of random, rapid, and individual selection, reducing the risk of sample degradation from repetitive freeze/thaw cycles and ensuring efficient sample utilization without wastage.
Additionally, our facility includes substantial liquid storage capacity within dedicated walk-in freezer and refrigerated units, each equipped with individually shelved locations. These storage systems are highly versatile, accommodating microtitre plates of all formats (96, 384, and 1536-well), types (including acoustic-compatible), and plate heights (standard, shallow-well, half-deep-well, or deep-well).
Our facilities include three Kardex Industriever vertical carousels, used primarily for storing solid sample vials. These semi-automated carousels accommodate up to 500,000 vials at room temperature, providing a flexible and efficient semi-automated retrieval strategy for storage needs.
The uniqueness of the facilities lies in the extensive and versatile storage capacity providing unparalleled capabilities for automated reformatting and plating.
All of these stores are housed in independent fire-protected rooms, served by an inert gas fire suppression system with VESDA®-detection. The storage of solid is easily expandable.
BioAscent possesses Home Office Licences that authorise the storage of Controlled Drug Substances at their facilities. These licences encompass Schedule 1 to 5 compounds, as specified by the British Home Office.
